Mog Wild West Coast Tour
If you haven’t already heard of or seen our Unimog Nigel, it’s our one-of-a-kind, adventure seeking overland vehicle. Throughout the past year, we’ve driven him around in shorter spurts, hitting sweet spots in Oregon for treks to hot springs, beaches, and boulders, peppered with fun events with some of our partners in between. We’ve loved the engagement and want to stretch our legs further.
To pull this all off, we welcome Stevie B, our newest Cupster, to drive Nigel on a 3,400-mile tour this Fall. He’s originally from Worcester, MA but has lived in West Hills, CA for the last 20 years. His mechanical aptitude, easy-going nature, up-for-anything sensibility and general badassery will take the wheel and keep cups and heads turning. When Stevie isn’t cruising with Nigel, he designs and builds furniture from mostly reclaimed materials, builds skateboards, helps out on movie sets, and tackles weekend adventures with the best of them.
Mog Wild: Loop 2
Around November 23rd, Nigel and Stevie plan to leave Oregon and head South for the second half of this Mog Wild West Coast Tour. They’re hoping to spend Black Friday enjoying the beautiful outdoors of the Mt. Shasta region. If you’d like to hang out mogside on Black Friday, follow along on our Instagram story to find out exactly where they are. After they leave Mt. Shasta, they’ll continue their travels and wish to spend more time at each stop to meet more people along the way. We will update this blog as we know more specifics on where they’re heading.
We are also looking into ways that we can help organizations that were affected by the wildfires. We will update you as we know more. If you have ideas, please contact Katie here at Silipint!
Update: Mog Wild Loop 1 is over!
To all of the amazing people we met in the first loop, you seriously made this trip worth every minute. We had some great conversations with a lot of awesome people and we thank all of you for your patience in finding us during our travels. We look forward to seeing you all again and encourage you to stop into Silipint HQ if you’re ever in Bend, Oregon.
The Original Loop 1 Route: Stevie and Nigel head east from Bend towards Boise to kickoff the first loop of the Mog Wild Northwest tour on November 1st. Then heading north, they’ll explore the panhandle of Idaho, even sneaking up to Sandpoint to dip in the Priest River. Catching both eastern and western Washington from Spokane to Seattle, and the Cascade Mountains in between, they’ll eventually get down to sea level and explore Bellingham and Olympia, with some hidden gems in between like Deception Pass. Back into our home state of Oregon, they’ll spend time in Portland and Hood River, and eventually catch the University of Oregon tailgate on November 17th when they take on the University of Arizona Sun Devils.
Get in Touch
If you live in or nearby areas along this route and would like us to stop and say “hi”, be sure to give us a shout on Instagram or email Katie, our Unimog Logistics Handler. We’re taking any input, invitations to collaborate, meetup adventure requests, etc. We promise unbreakable giveaways, several beverage options and a whole lot of high fives along the way.
Nigel
Weighing in at 20,000 pounds and measuring nearly 14′ tall, Nigel the 2003 Mercedes Unimog U300 with custom camper is fit for highways and backroads alike. Fueled by diesel power, equipped with solar panels, propane tanks and all the trimmings of an adventure vehicle, Nigel can get up to 14 mpg and carries 150 gallons of fuel and 100 gallons of water. Slow and steady up the hills, these 46″ tires make driving smooth, and with double locking differentials, can go (almost) anywhere.
Follow along and tag any sightings! #mogwild #silipint
